Had great expectations for this but sadly these days such hopes are dashed upon the rocks of PC nonsense.
Not even a slightly convincing portrayal of the Viking culture or sagas.
Not one characters has any of the charisma of Ragnar, Bjorn, Largertha of even King Ecbert.
I don't expect it to be historically accurate, the preceding series tried initially and failed in the end but this nonsense and watered down to make it look almost childish. The fight scenes are mainly edited of any realism or just bad editing.
Unlike some other I do not have a problem with Black or Asian characters in Vikings, a culture that effectively went around the known world would have appropriated these people into their society, probably as slaves to begin with and eventually of course would make their own way in society. But to the extent that an African woman becomes a Jarl and leader of a Viking settlement is beyond comprehension. Yes the character is admittedly a made up character but why, surely the only reason is to tick a few inclusion boxes.
Anyway I still find the whole show a pale imitation of the former, it has a glossiness about and squeaky clean look. No grittiness and sanitised beyond belief.
Thankfully we still have the final season of 'The Last Kingdom' to look forward to.
Dire that is all else I can bring myself to say.

I may be a bit of an aged old dinosaur but what happened to the concept of 'truth' in modern day TV and film. Now I am all for diversity across all areas but I do wonder what kind of though process comes up with a show based upon an ages old often told story of the Legend of King Arthur and casts a black actor as said King. Makes no sense whatsoever, nothing against the actor who does a fine job but it just grates and gets on my nerves. Please lets get through all this PC nonsense and go back to reality, That way no-one gets upset, it is just what it is. get over it!
I thought the whole episode was incredible but of course I could be a fake paid reviewer, still better than being a numpty I guess and giving this 1-2 stars.
