kasperromarvengsgaard's rating
The comments and rating clearly reflect that a lot of viewers have not entirely clogged or taken in what type of genre this show really is, or plays around with at least. It's a comedy with highly satirical elements, but it seems parts of the audience want to be able to immediately identify with the characters and not take it for what it is, which is a hilarious, and very impressive, well written and well acted comedy. It's not exactly a parody or a super sarcastic portrayal of a group of friends, instead it rests somewhere inbetween that and holds its own spot, and in a fun way.
Something seems fishy with this rating does it not? 9.2 but not a single review. 1k raters.
Maybe it is because the film is so incredible it's not possible to express with words?
Maybe it is something else.
Someone should watch it.

We can only hope it's one of the best films ever made.

Nothing short of being one of the very best film the genre has to offer. The film has interesting thematic connections to other classics like The Exorcist and Don't look now.
But an even closer relation to the south korean masterpiece The Wailing from 2016.
Without being a direct sequel to that film, The Medium seems to open up, interpret and zoom in on aspects of the wailing in ways where both film are the better for it. Both films are examples of well crafted and personal films, dealing with East-Asian occultism and occult ritualism in different ways. And they are equally entertaining. I would recommend watching The Wailing first. The director of the wailing has written the script and produced the medium.
