I had no prior knowlarge that third film existed and its thanks to pluto that I do and in re watching these films there really was no need for a third film. I enjoyed this still but its a story that still does not conclude anything. We centre on a new family living in the apartment from the second film where the evil still persits and a woman called nakeo comes from japan to rid it once and for all. Acting was good but i hate that they recast the two ghosts. There was some good effects in this film however but I just dont think it should have been made.
Leaving off from the first movie karan is in hopsital and out of no where she has a sister called aubrey. She goes to visit her in japan and we get thrown back into the house once more. There is also three school girls and a family living in an aparment in america that are important to the story. I think it is a bit over the place but the effects were really cool in places especially one near the end. Overall not the best sequal Ive seen but it was still fun.
I think the american version works for two reasons. One we keep the japan setting which I think might even be the same house and the casting of geller as main character karan. Karan is gone to look after an elderky woman after her career yoko goes missing. This is until she relizes something is up with one of the houses ocupents, a child named toshio. But there is something truely evil about all this and im glad rami was directing as it helped make this better than it would have been. I loved the japanese original and sure this might slightly lose impact but I still thought I was a great american remake.
