Lovin' all my faves~
<<<---Photo: from A FINE ROMANCE (1981 -1984). Classic Britcom 

PERSONAL ENTERTAINMENT PREFERENCES (all top faves in bold):

Type of television = I love TV of all eras. Types of programs I like are: serialized programs (usually dramas or dark thrillers like "Bates Motel" or the original "Dallas"), cozy and classic mystery and crime shows (like "Columbo" "Murder, She Wrote", and "The Alfred Hitchcock Hour"), mini-series, made-for-TV-movies, and televised plays (especially when they are big-time television events, like "Peter Pan Live"!), classic variety shows (like "Carol Burnett"), vintage talk-shows (like Dinah Shore, Carson, Donahue, Joan Rivers, etc---the fun showbiz-themed ones), vintage game-shows (like the 1980s-1990s "Love Connection"), heartwarming family shows (like "Punky Brewster"), some children's shows and cartoons I grew up with, and occasional cooking shows and home and garden programs. But, as much as I love all these different types of TV from all the different eras, it is sitcoms and comedic shows (especially favorite Britcoms and cozy British comedy) which I tend to love the most.

Type of film = Romantic, sexy, understated, erotic, happy, sweet, uplifting, poetic, mysterious, thrilling, dark, suspenseful, fantastical, warm, fun---Chic[k]-flicks... Lover of all cinema, i.e. "World cinema"---especially European, Australian, and North American cinema---but enjoy films from elsewhere occasionally too. As long as films are romances (especially lesbian romances), musicals, comedies, fantasies, family films, teen films, dramas, FILMS ABOUT TEACHERS AND FILMS ABOUT NUNS (they often inspire and invigorate me), art films, animation (especially the really artsy ones), suspense/thrillers, mysteries, epics, or horror--or a combination thereof--and as long as I like the style, story, and cast---I'll most likely like the film. I am also a fan of some documentary films and shorts. But, the look and musical score/soundtrack is essential to my enjoyment of anything I watch, no matter what the genre. The more visually stunning the film, the better---and the more likable the soundtrack/score, the more I'll adore it. Love films showing lifestyles of the rich and glamorous, lush suburbs, scenery, homes, affluence, domestic settings... I like films that excite me, arouse me, seduce me, fill my mind with wonder, warm my heart, play into my fantasies of a comfortable existence, and/or otherwise make me feel good---about something---even if it's just the clothes the characters are wearing or the places they go!

A look at 1 of my favorite movies =

Okay, I admit-- I'm rather in-love with most of the above-listed actors, actresses, musicians, movies, and shows. So, not only would I like to be many of them, but I'd like to marry them as-well, haha! At least I get to live vicariously through them, each and every time I hear or see them on the screen, which is nice.

Yes, I definitely find that relating myself to favorite movies, music, and television tends to make the "real world" a bit more bearable. It may seem a trifle silly, but to quote some words of wisdom I once read from a fellow IMDb enthusiast, "Whatever brings comfort & positivity to your worldview, more power to it." And that, in a nutshell, is why I'm here :-)

  • Watching this the night before Physical Therapy really hits!

Watching this the night before Physical Therapy really hits!

I love how I went into this comedy special, without knowing that there would be any bit about Physical Therapy in this one, the night before I go to Physical Therapy! It's kismet!

Tig Notaro makes me feel like there's a light in the dark, that even tragedy has its good points, but nothing is too bleak to break our optimistic spirit. She makes me feel optimistic, happy, warm, cuddly. All the good stuff!

My favorite comedy special of hers so far is probably. "happy to be here". But this one was still super!

She has quickly become my favorite stand-up comedian, with Ellen DeGeneres a close second now. I feel guilty for saying that, because Ellen has always been my number one stand-up comedian, ever since I saw her specials. But TIG is just resonating with me on such a personal level. And her relationship with her wife, Stephanie, is one of the purest examples of a soulmate, possible twin flame relationship that I've ever seen! It's truly one of the best relationships that I know of, one of the likes of which I aspire to have.

And to top it all off, she has the Joan connections! Ellen has Joan connections too, but I Tig has just a little bit more. First and foremost, she placed the character of Jett Reno on the new Star Trek show, and she Gave herself that name in honor of Joan Jett. Secondly, she was cast to play Joan Jett's mother in The Runaways movie, but her scenes were cut when the film took a different direction.

I love how the people I love the most are all connected to Joan, and that's just more proof that Tig Notaro is tops in my book!

  • Joan Jett should've been included in this!

It wasn't as entertaining as some documentaries that I've seen, but it was interesting to hear about the particular niche of music that the indigo girls occupied, and the things that they went through together. I feel very educated about it now.

On another note, I was waiting for them to say something about Joan Jett, because Joan represented a pivotal part in Amy Ray's career, when Ray decided to go solo, and gathered a lot of her favorite people around her to help on her first solo album - one of those people being Joan. And prior to that, Joan had done a concert with them in Madison Square Garden in 1997.

There was a Joan mentioned in this documentary, but it was Joan Baez! Now, I've got nothing against Joan Baez. I think she's a lovely woman, and I know she's done more with the Indigo Girls than Joan Jett has, because they are more in line with each other style wise. But I take offense when there's a missed opportunity, where my Joan Jett is not mentioned!

I will add too, that my Joan did her work on Amy's album for free. Amy actually talked about this in an interview, how she called Joan and said she needed some help with the song, and Joan came there right away to help her, added background vocals and a guitar. Didn't ask for a dime!

The Indigo Girls are a fantastic duo, with very moving music. And my Joan Jett has been part of their story, which I'm very happy to say.

I decided to watch this documentary after watching Tig Notaro's Netflix stand-up special called "happy to be here" because at the end, she talks about how the indigo girls are her favorite band, and it just got me interested, because Tig is one of my favorite people of all time as well!

If you're a fan of Tig Notaro or Joan Jett, you will want to check this out. And of course, if you're a fan of the indigo girls, you've probably already checked it out.

Not bad! Would've been better if they mentioned my girl, but still, not bad.

  • My gosh, she's adorable!!

This is truly one of my favorite stand-up comedy specials of all time, right up there with the 2003 Ellen DeGeneres HBO comedy special!

She is so wholesome and so pure! OMG! Her energy is just so trustworthy, so good. There's a goodness about Tig that makes her a very feel-good comedian. Watching her is like getting a peek into what a good life really is.

She's had some of the worst tragedy an individual can have in their life, and yet she herself is the opposite of tragic. Her attitude makes her the complete opposite. She is just a joy. A simple joy.

Her relationship with her wife is given good time in this special, and you get a real sense of the dynamic. And the dynamic is so cozy and fun.

Wholesome is a word that immediately comes to mind when I think of the comedy of Tig Notaro. You don't go in watching one of her specials for raunchy jokes or salacious subject matter. She's right on par with Sesame Street or a 1950s sitcom, she's so wholesome! A time or two, you might have a cuss word, or a mention of sex. But, her overall vibe is so wholesome and so safe, you just want to hold her hand, and have her guide you across the street! She's the kind of comedian you feel like would give good advice, somebody you feel like you can trust.

She's just good people. And that that's the vibe I get from this comedy special. I love it, love it!
