Clearly WB hasn't done a great job planing DCEU's movies and Marvel is better on the big picture, laying out the whole plan for the grand world view. I think maybe this is why lots of people think Aquaman is the best DCEU moive. Personally, I don't think Aquaman is a great movie, definitely far from the best, except the VFX.
If you compare Aquaman with BVS or Watchmen, you'll find that this story is like a children's fairytale. It has no reflection on our reality. It just tells a hero becomes the hero, defeats the villain and finds the love one. It has no "soul".
Of course the VFX is epic. But we already have an Avatar. What we need now is a great story, not over-productions.

I always love popcorn movies with deep reflections on real problems. And Avengers: Infinity War is, IMO, not THE best, but one of the best Marvel movies ever made. If you want to know, I think Captain American: Winter Soldier is the best in MCU.
Let's take away the grand world and fancy effects, this is a movie about a very serious social problem: booming population and limited resources. How do we choose to solve this problem does not make us a villain. It just makes us humans. It also brings the question that does ends justify the means. If you really think about it, this movie has more to offer.
Infinity War builds an epic world. It introduces us to the entire Marvel Universe. It also builds an epic "Villain". Thanos, after seeing him in previous easter eggs, I worried he was going to be a classic villain with no humanity. But he's not. In Infinity War, Thanos is a human. He has his background, he has his value. The fact that he only kills to bring balance to the Universe after his world was destroyed indicates that he has human feelings and he wants to solve the unsolvable problem. Most importantly, he has the terribly strong will to act on it. This makes him one of the most well built "Villain" in history.
Music, scenes, battles are pretty well designed in this movie. And the shocking ending really gives us huge anticipations for the sequel.

Sometimes I feel sick hearing comments like "Oh this is a popcorn movie with no story, but who cares, we are after the effects". But this is sadly the truth right now. People don't care about stories any more. Popcorn movies and series must have a great story too!
Venom is a super cool character. I love him. Seeing him fighting, and even just hearing the voice is really fun. This movie is supposed to be a cool movie, and it indeed is very cool. But the weak plot really brings it two levels down.
If you are only after the coolness and effects, it's not gonna be a disappointment. BTW, awesome closing theme song.
