This film surprised me. A film that I think is a few steps above Sean Baker's new film Anora and deserves all the awards. It is not easy to get a child to act so well, but Sean Baker has succeeded. The mother-daughter relationship is also well-developed. We are dealing with a special film. The mood and atmosphere of the film are unlike any other film. It is one of those so-called feel-good films, except for the final sequence. The film does not have a very strong soundtrack, and this is its major weakness. But Sean Baker showed that he has great talent by making this film. Hopefully, Baker will make better films than this one.
Anora is a good film, there is no doubt about that, but it is not very good and has some weaknesses. The film is practically divided into two parts. The first forty-five minutes are like a disaster and it seems that the film's engine has not yet started, and in the second forty-five minutes we see a good film with the addition of new characters and better sequences. But did Anora deserve the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival? This question is very difficult to answer and until we have seen all the films, we cannot give a positive or negative answer to this question. But what is clear is that Sean Baker is a talented director.
This animation is quite adult and its central idea is the same as Christopher Nolan's Inception. That is, dreams and sleep. It is interesting to know that this film was made before Inception, so Nolan was inspired by Satoshi Kan to make Inception and not the other way around. This animation is a bit complicated and you may not understand it the first time you see it and have to watch it again, but it is worth it. Satoshi Kan's works are complicated but valuable. If you like to watch an adult animation that has meaning, I recommend this to you, but if you prefer to watch a lighter work or watch something with your child, I do not recommend watching Paprika at all because you probably will not understand anything.
