The real flaw in this was Dan Aykroyd--of ALL people--being made into The Voice Of Reason...The Moral Center character.
It's not that Aykroyd is not believable in the role...In fact, that was the problem. He was very good as a compassionate, intelligent and devout 'Father' figure. However, Aykroyd's comedic legend was not built upon him delivering 'normal' characterizations. This role could have been played by any number of reliable character actors. Aykroyd in this part is wasted, considering his many talents.
Fans of his comedy high-probability expected a quirky oddball--an eccentric, at the very least. Instead, they got one of the most expressive comedians in the business playing Father Normal.

This review is specifically aimed at viewers who are about to see Ep # 22 of 'The Tick' ; "Choose Love!".
If you are wondering if the cancelled -waaay-before-it's-time satirical series is going to leave you frustrated on a cliffhanger; this is what you need to know... Yes...and No.
Yes--there is a slight future plot-point involving Superion left dangling....
But, No-- There is no big, annoying cliffhanger involving Our Heroes, Arthur and the Tick.
The conclusion is fairly fan-friendly, leaving pretty much everyone in a good place (except the aforementioned Superion), so you can view with no trepidation about being left hanging (except, again; about Superion).
As cancelled-too-early series endings go; this is not too bad.
(I have seen far, far worse. I am STILL annoyed over the abrupt ending of 'Now And Again'... 25 years ago...!)
Oh--You will still high-probability, be frustrated that 'The Tick' did not continue.... That feeling is unavoidable.

Okay, it is obviously a riff on the 'Indiana Jones' -style of stories, but that is not bad. Long-lost treasure, competing archaeologists searching through tangled clues and a cutesy Map traveling scene. There is even a 'Beloc' character!
The real flaw is that this is something that should have been done as a 90 min. 'movie' event.
I will not go into spoiler-territory details.
One point I will make; the actor playing Hudson (Meegwun Fairbrother) is an incredible look and sound-alike to actor Alec Baldwin, circa 1994.
Underneath the shoulder-length black hair, Meegwun Fairbrother could be Baldwin's clone. Even the timbre of his voice and tonal inflection are so close to Baldwin it's eerie.
