I haven't seen such a powerful film in a long time. Lepota poroka offers a gripping plot, with themes around the position of women in society that remain strikingly relevant even today. It presents a rare and intimate view of Montenegro during that period-highlighting the psychological and cultural contrasts between people from the mountains, urban life on the coast, and tourists who represent the "outside world."
The characters are deeply human, raw, and multilayered. Each one is portrayed with care and complexity, making them feel incredibly real. The performances are phenomenal, and the emotional depth of the storytelling is unforgettable.
Visually, the film is stunning. It captures the beauty of Montenegro's landscapes in a way that feels both poetic and authentic.
As someone else pointed out, this film was truly ahead of its time-not only in narrative but in execution. Considering that Montenegrin cinema never had the budget, technical equipment, or international exposure of mainstream European or world cinema, the strength of this film is even more impressive.
Highly recommended. A bold, thought-provoking work that deserves far more recognition.
