  • It has no right to be this good

It's been years since I've seen a good children's animated movie. Most are produced by Disney or Pixar, or Illumination, and almost all of their products are safe, visually bland, uninteresting, etc. But what DreamWorks achieves with Puss in Boots: The Last Wish is something truly special. It has a charming story with charming characters, an art style that is beautiful and unique, antagonists that are likable and diverse.

Every character has some type of arc. None of the characters stayed the same when compared to the start of the movie. Puss goes from being arrogant and self-centered to caring and selfless. This is a product of good script writing, and something we rarely see in todays cinema.

Puss in Boots: The Last Wish is simply a good movie, not just a good children's movie. There's little to critique because you can tell how much care they put into this movie. I strongly recommend giving it a watch, as it was one of the best movies of the year.

  • Is It Just Me Or....

This film has been called a modern masterpiece, it has overwhelmingly positive reviews, it won 7 OSCARS. And the only thing I can say about this movie is that it was okay. I've seen a lot of reviews giving it a 1/10, which just isn't fair because there are some redeeming factors. The fights scenes were pretty cool, the visuals are interesting (nothing outstanding), and the acting is decent, but no Oscar-winning performances in my opinion.

What makes this movie a disappointment for me was that I was left bored and emotionless. I couldn't take this movie and its characters serious. It's just so goofy and weird and then it tries to go all serious at the end. Maybe it's not for me, because it's definitely a film not for everyone.

This movie was just a disappointment for me. For a movie to be called a masterpiece, for it to win 7 Oscars, it has to be perfect or at least close to perfect. But the plot was boring and it held no tension. It's goofy tone removed all the seriousness at the end. Everything Everywhere All at Once was average, and it's definitely a movie not worth 7 Oscars.

  • A Must Watch WW1 Film

WW1 doesn't get the recognition it truly deserves. It's an incredibly brutal war, and All Quiet on the Western Front does a great job at portraying the brutality and the monotony of WW1. What I love most about this movie is that it focuses on one character, and you get to see him slowly transform as a person. Not many war films take this approach where it's essentially a character study.

Although the film is brutal with its subject matter, it's a great watch cinematically. Every scene is like an art piece; you can tell there was much effort put into every scene. The cinematography alone is enough to warrant a watch.

All Quiet on the Western Front is one of the better war films in recent time. It's cinematic, realistic, engaging and emotional. It's a film that I won't forget in a while. Out of all the recent Netflix originals that came out this year, All Quiet on the Western Front should be a film on top of everybody's list.
