Tom Hanks is perfectly understated as the Captain of the USS Greyhound, struggling valiantly to shepherd his convoy across the gap in air cover. Viewers are quickly able to identify with him and his crew. The action starts pretty quickly and never really lets up. The film is technically superb, and serves to highlight the valor of the forgotten heroes in World War Two's most important theater.
