I always thought of Ferenc Zenthe as a tv actor. He used to be in more productions he had hours in a day. He was Hungary's darlin for decades, for the country boy roles with the country boy looks, wisdom and righteousness.
In the same time (decades), there were no movies about the holocaust. Nobody wanted to touch the subject that would reveal that half the country was pleased with the Jews carried away into death camps as long as it wasn't them.
So it came a total shock to me that 1) Zenthe can act 2) a movie this beautiful and heart-wrenching can be made in Hungary from the memories and guilt we had had. Zenthe transformed into a giant in this movie, it wasn't a performance but a complete transformation. It was subtle, restrained, nuanced, accurate and divine. Probably in the top 3 movies of all the Hungary's rich collection.

I thought this was the best rom-com/cross country road trip with a love story that was every made when I first saw it. That was 40 years and 1000s of movies ago and I have yet to see anything better, more charming, exuberant, innocent yet sexy and enticing.
There is not one moment that could be improved or changed without making this movie less perfect. If you have not seen it, you are in for a joy of a lifetime.
It's a perfect cast and perfect acting an of course Cusack's best movie, which is a serious accomplish from the lead of Say Anything, Better Off Dead, Serendipity and about 10 other great rom-coms!

I read the reviews and expected a somewhat cohesive story, with a storyline. In the first few episodes there is no storyline. It's a complete mess. One confusing aspect is that you expect Rob Lowe to act which he doesn't seem to want to do. His role is supposed to be a heart-broken disfunctional dad, instead he acts like a bunny rabbit on LSD. (I know he can act, I saw him in roles where he held it together).
Then, even though there is still no story, the characters grow on you. John Owen Lowe is a natural comedian, subtle, sarcastic, humble, a joy to watch. That's as much as I can say about the show, for the most part it's painful to watch but could be fun if they went on to make two more episodes.
