Man, was this movie exhausting. There's no buildup and no suspense. It's just a compilation of fight scenes that get extremely tiresome.
The character development is really poor, there's zero emotional weight to anything that happens.
It also severely lacked in humor. Took itself way too seriously. And, this really has no reason why it should be called ''Ballerina''. That aspect plays little to no role in the plot or in the way the main character acts.
Some scenes look really cool, like the one with the flamethrower, but that's pretty much all this movie has going on for it.

This movie simply felt... safe. There weren't particularly bold choices, no risks, it felt that it was made by the numbers and that was it.
It just doesn't feel like it was committed to a particular style, we just see certain moments in Bob's life during those years and that's pretty much it. It doesn't go beyond surface level.
The performances were good, Elle fanning always succeeds in conveying sadness and heartbreak, but the movie is so bland that the scene where she leaves, ends up having no emotional weight to it.
Visually, it was quite nice, the film really stands out during dimly lit scenes and nighttime scenes too. Very dramatic use of light and shadow.
But it just failed to connect with me emotionally. I love Bob Dylan, although I prefer his post 70's stuff by a lot. I just got no insight or anything interesting with this film.
