Hubby & I enjoyed the movie. Production values were ok. I liked the interaction of the family, and given they really ARE a family that makes sense, lol. I enjoyed the outdoor scenes (we loved NZ when we visited years ago) also and the ingenuity of the daughter. As stated in the review title, it was somewhat predictable - but as a writer myself I am usually able to 'figure out' plot structure and twists. Watched it on YouTube where it was called 'A Detective'. I found the real name by looking up the writer. It's too bad there is a minimum character count in order to leave a review - that means I have to fill with fluff in order to get my review posted.
Even though I follow the news, I don't remember this case. I also did not watch the previous movie about her (HBO?)
At first I was concerned about the quality (based on the negative reviews here), but after reading more online about her and her case, we decided to give it a watch. Both the husband and I thought it was well written, well acted, and well paced.
Regardless of which side of the political divide you are on, we need more people who are willing to stand up for the truth AND transparency in government. In that respect I applaud her efforts.
Also, I have to say that I loved the carnudgeonly charming 'character' that her father was.

Even the hubby loved it. We totally appreciated the transformative power of the movie's book author's words - how the book not only changed the lives of its readers, but also the lives of those around them. This truly is how magic in our lives works.
The movie is a journey from despair to hope to success. Of course not everyone will get it- that's how life works. The key is to pay attention to what matters, and to look beyond those parts that limit us. Just like in real life.
We found the characters totally relatable in their individual experiences. Again, that's the way life works, lol. Oh, lol, I need a couple more characters in order to post this...
