Maaaaan, this was such a fun watch. One thing I usually find annoying with Hollywood family dramas is how kids are often portrayed-constantly upset with their parents, disrespectful, unreasonable, ungrateful, and stubborn. It always feels unrealistic and agenda-driven.
But in this movie, the kids and wife were just adorable. They could see their dad was genuinely trying to do right, and they were patient with him. No unnecessary pressure, and the boy was even supportive of his father's ways. It made for a wholesome family action drama.
It wasn't as great as the first one, but still very enjoyable. My favorite character was definitely Grandpa. And seeing Sharon Stone as Lendina??? Hilarious 😂😂😂

Nuuuuh man! Not even Denzel could save this movie. Spike Lee clearly hasn't been paying attention. This was just another recycled, tired narrative - Black people doing the same old Black people dumb stuff whilst trying to be cool. Honestly, the only reason I think Denzel even agreed to this project was out of respect for Spike Lee. I mean Denzel Washington listening to stupid degeratory music from Asap Rocky with women shaking their hair naked behinds, whilst nodding his head and such? SMH. Even if it was for a brief moment, Denzel would never.
The storyline? Ridiculous. The premise? Ridiculous. The acting? Ridiculous. Even the soundtrack felt completely out of place. And the casting? Terrible. Watching Jeffrey Wright try to play a street guy was unintentionally hilarious. Cinematography was probably the only thing they got right here.
What Denzel Washington really needs is a proper gangster film where he plays the Boss - the way Al Pacino did in Scarface. He's got the charisma, the presence, and the grit to pull it off. With the right script, that could easily be the best gangster movie since The Godfather.
