The fable of King Arthur is one that has been retold many times and in many ways from serious to comedy even a musical and an animated Disney effort. From the stylistic Excalibur of the 80's, the silly First Knight and the more recent (and absurd) Guy Ritchie effort (with the 300ft elephants!) that bombed. Now there's this TV series which could be best described as bland, lasting just 1 season, before being cancelled. Clearly a show that was trying to save money with a cast of unknowns, in fact the only face I even recognised was Arthur himself, who once played a scientist in Agents of Shield.
The show itself is more soap than action adventure.

Having now watched the pilot and the first 2 eps of what is being called (absurdly) season 1?, I'm not very impressed. Space Babies and the Devil's Chord were just silly from a creature made of baby snot to a transvestite who steals music. It's a sad slide from a reboot that started so well with Christopher Eccleston and continued with following Doctors. Despite a lot of detractors I thought Jodie Whittaker was an excellent Doctor but weighed down by scripts that wanted to beat the audience over the head with social issues.
From current news it would seem the reception of this version of the Doctor (stories, scripts and musical numbers) has not been well received. With current announcements Russell Davies has left the show, Disney is dropping its funding and the show seeming to be on a 2 year hiatus. As a fan I can only hope this doesn't turn into the sort of hiatus at the end of the McCoy era.
