  • Delightful!!

There's no other word for this film but "delightful!" Ronald Colman and Loretta Young are just delicious together, particularly because in real life she was a huge fan of his... You can see her joy and excitement when they are together, and he doesn't exactly seem unhappy with his co-star! Colman is in his beautiful prime, and so is Young... who had her teeth fixed not long after this, and it changed her impish and adorable looks forever.

I love the story, the settings, everything. Don't miss Colman's meeting with the terrier George, and the scene where Colman asks George for his help writing a letter!

There are also a couple of rare moments when Colman has adorable interactions with people he bumps into on the street... utterly charming.

One of my favorite Ronald Colman films, and that's saying a lot!

  • Very likable!

I enjoyed this film a lot, because Dorothy Mackaill, who I guess was an answer to Marion Davies, has a really sweet demeanor. I'm happy there's a happy ending, and in fact, I never saw Conrad Nagel looking better! I also very much like Joan Blondell, who was so cute in these very early roles, before they gave her that stiff glamorous hairdo. I can't stand the wise-cracking boyfriend, but then maybe that's the idea, we're not supposed to like him. It's a fun film with some really touching moments. I first saw Dorothy Mackaill in "the flirting widow" with Basil Rathbone , and I really liked her in that, too.
