Just watched this on Netflix. It had been in my watchlist for a while now. But for the longest time, I couldn't get past the 15 yo & 27 yo dynamic. I finally said, let's check it out cuz I've really enjoyed Shinkai's other works & I was not disappointed - other than the fact that the movie was too short. I went into it and just ignoring the age thing and watching with an open mind. Enjoyed how the relationship built itself up from a simple interaction between two people into one where these two became integral parts of the other. I won't say anything more about the story - just watch it for yourself and see just how many times you keep replaying the climax - I'm up to 10 myself! Animations are Top 5 for me!
Ok I admit, I'm a sap and find myself drawn to these types of movies. But they pull me in and the emotions they evoke within me are real! I won't lie, I had a good cry with this one. Won't go into it much as I would highly encourage you to watch! If I had one wish though, it would've been that this was a series and not just one movie. There's not enough time to really give the characters depth which I really would have liked.
No need for me to go into details as I'd only be regurgitating what all the other 10 star reviewers are saying. Visually stunning, great plot, excellent characters. I didn't want it to end! That right there is a testament to how good this anime is.
