Current offering on Criterion (11/2025) as part of their Blackout Noir collection. Star packed simple noir that is just plain fun. Simpler times, simpler story, but very enjoyable all the same. Always fun to see Raymond Burr in his early days. The three gals play off each other so well you can't help but like it.

Current offering 11/2025 on Criterion for their Blackout Noir collection. Fun to see so many stars and supporting actors in one place. Sadly the story is a bit of a muddled mess and the acting quite theatrical. My guess is the studio had a bunch of actors with nothing to do and a weak screenplay and figure what the heck. Like our main character this script has hit rock bottom.

Based on a true story this movie sure takes an unusual way of telling it. Seems to pick things up at random while unsuccessfully trying to overlay the different story lines. As mentioned elsewhere the acting is excellent yet I found the presentation confusing and couldn't tell what exactly was going on some of the time.
