  • Disappointing. Low budget, cliché ridden, boring.

I so wanted this to be great but immediately you can tell its been knocked together on a budget.

The locations are unconvincing. Scenery is non existent. Journeys that would take days or weeks are made in what appears 10 minutes.

Heavy with exposition because its so poorly written nobody can tell who's who and what the plot is until episode 3 The acting is hammy and bordering on Horrible Histories. Juliet Stevenson thinks she's in Game of Thrones.

Tired old comical clichés like: "we ride out at dawn"

King Edward is a cartoon character and far from the real personality who was on the contrary a very astute , well respected and pious King who established Westminster Abbey and his tomb takes pride of place in it.

William has no charisma whatsoever and the Godwin's dialect is an anachronistic 2020's Estuary English.

This should have been the quality of Wolf Hall or the Hollow Crown.

Its more like Carry on in Normandy.

  • Politically biased farce

This hyper political correctness and liberal globalist bias is way past a joke now and insulting to the still vast majority Caucasian population of the UK.

Soon they will do away with white characters altogether unless they're the villains.

Usual scapegoats ... "far right" Military Nationalists Conservatives Men

Add in the ridiculous lack of security around a PM and her family in the height of a national emergency.

Who would think an empty country house with no police would be more secure than the Churchill bunkers under the foreign office?

The writers should do comedy instead.

Suranne Jones wasted again in a production as ridiculous as the submarine farce: "Vigil"

Even if you suspend belief for the entertainment the level of DEI is hard to swallow.

  • Dreadfully Clichéd and derivative Terrible cast

Just lazy ridiculous stereotyping Pretentious yet vulgar A cast of totally unlikeable characters The lead female is pretentious but easy The lead guy is an A hole. £ shop Hugh Grant with no redeeming features.

The support cast ticking every obligatory box in the book.

Badly derivative of One Day, Brideshesd, Saltburn, Emily in Paris.

Just nonsense with a few albeit repetitive shots of Oxford. (Watch Morse, Endeavour or Brideshead Revisited instead) Who does a degree in Victorian poetry? Certainly not Oxford and certainly not someone going on to Goldman Sachs.

Oxford do English literature of which Victorian poetry is but a small subset.
