Web series review: Do you wanna partner streaming on Prime Video!!
Premise : the webseries showcases the entrepreneurial journey of two gritty women Tamannaah Bhatia and Diana Penty who r trying to make it big in India's craft beer business.
Halka fulka series hai . Decent acting by the protagonists Tamannaah Bhatia and Diana Penty and ably supported by Neeraj Kabi as a devious businessman and competitor. Shweta Tiwari in a totally different avatar . Some restrained acting by Javed Jaffery even as he plays the larger than life brand ambassador David Jones , for their craft beer brand Jugarro . His get up is really something to watch out for .. Curly mop of hair .. mannerisms.. comic timing.. gaffes..yet very endearing!! Also Nakul Mehta as the quirky Bobby who plays Diana Penty's love interest is also fun to watch.
The idea of a woman centric storyline, 2 besties with dreams of making it big in a male-dominated industry is refreshing ( something like the 2 Broke Girls .. and their cup cake business) . The latter half of this 8 part series falters a bit as some of the showdowns become repetitive and uninspired. None of the villains were scary .. actually downright funny sometimes. The script too seems weak at times making situations feel unbelievable.
Overall, if u go without any expectations, this one can be a light, feel good weekend watch.
Going with 2.5/5 for this one .. adios 😊!!

Web series review: Dexter , Original sin streaming on Prime Video!!
A must watch for all fans of the 2006 Dexter web series . This season is a prequel that attempts to provide answers as to what made Dexter ..dexter the serial killer. A prequel with a wow factor for sure.
The story is set in the early 1990s with a 20 yr old Dexter joining the Miami metro police as an intern in the forensic department. Here he is seen following Harry's code created for channeling his dark passenger to rid the earth of scum which the law couldn't take care of.
There is also another story running in parallel that is a prequel to the prequel.. set in 1973 which gives an insight into Dexter's childhood days . This one has Harry as the main protagonist with Dexter's biological mom Laura Moser as his love interest.
Very beautifully showcased .. apart from young Dexter, it also delves deep into popular characters like a young Debra Morgan with her foul mouth trying to keep up with the boys club. Dexter's dad Harry played by Christian Slater, and his code that takes the show to the next level. You also get the added bonus of watching young detective Angel Batista, also loved the young Vincent Masuka with his dirty mind and cheesy one liners😁. Detective Maria LaGuerta looks cute .. with nice cameos from young Brian Moser ( Dexters elder psychotic brother from season 1 ) and Miguel Prado ( antagonist from season 3).
All in all it is a great prequel to a show that everyone has come to love since 2006.
What really impressed me was how well the show balances the psychological drama with suspenseful storytelling.
The tension builds episode by episode, with twists that keep you hooked without feeling forced.
Going with 4/5 for this great prequel which i definitely enjoyed watching.. adios 😊!!

Movie Review: Dashavatar ( Marathi film) screening in cinema halls near you!!
This movie can be compared to Kantara as it has a similar storyline. An aging performer of mythological plays ( Dashavatar), Babuli ( Dilip Prabhavalkar) living peacefully with his son Siddharth Menon finds his life turned upside down when his son is killed by the mining mafia for trying to turn whistleblower. How the father turns his acting skills into a powerful weapon, transforming himself into various characters from hos Dashavatar play and exacts revenge on the perps forms the rest of the premise!!
Dilip Prabhavalkar is the Sachin Tendulkar of the film !! Just brilliant even at the age of 81 ... I can't imagine anyone else essaying this role.
Sunil menon as the son , Priyadarshini Indalkar as his love interest & Mahesh Manjrekar playing an upright cop also perform well in their small roles.
Bharat Jadhav unfortunately is under utilized, u cant even recognise the poor fellow in his new avatar. Any small time actor could have played the part.
The cinematography is great, showcasing the beauty of Konkan very well .. the dark & eerie forest scenes create an eerie ambience giving u goosebumps . Most of the songs compliment the narrative perfectly though a couple of them end up slowing the narrative too, in the first half.
On the flipside .. the film takes a long time to get into full throttle.. a bit slow to start off. It picks up stream somewhere near the interval and becomes quite gripping. Again towards the end it becomes a bit preachy ( same story repeated time and again in Marathi cinema ) and the climax seems stretched!! Cudve done with a bit of trimming at the end .
Not in the same league as Kantara but refreshing to see something different from the Marathi film industry!! Cast too needs to be appreciated 👍 🙂
