  • This is a 10 for me - fosters mindfulness of the passage of time- priceless

Beautifully rendered movie that I won't forget quickly and that had me in tears for quite some time. We have grandchildren, children, and elderly parents and the telling of life through the same space of the house is a work of genius that connects everyone through time, particularly in a historic house. The connection with the land is vital and that was depicted so very well, with trees, rocks and wildlife changing over time. Of course, it makes you wonder about the other perspective- the future. This movie affirms the transient nature of everything in our lives, our loves, and all the things that will continue to survive after us. It reminds me to be mindful of the little things, every moment, and the people we love so very much, because they won't be here and neither will I, but this precious space, it will still be here for a long long time after, enveloping yet another love, another life, another story.

  • This movie makes you appreciate all other movies

When watching a bad movie and you feel like it's the worst movie you've ever watched, all you have to do is to think of this movie! When you do that, you appreciate every other movie ever made, This movie is so bad, it is unrivaled in the history of moviemaking except for its own sequals.

The main character of Rob is so generic, that he makes generic a category unto its own. It suggests the whole thing is a spoof but even if a spoof, it is an ineffective spoof.

So, Is this a spoof? No.

Is this film worth spending the limited hours in your life watching it? No.

So, why does this movie have sequels? Its a mystery to me.

    Watch sharknado instead.

  • Silly people.

I found this entertaining in a clinical way. But, it was not a good love story. It was a tragic drama of flawed individuals.

    1. Hathaways character (Emma) was lovely, but too lovely to explain her inability to find other partners. Life is wasted as she keeps returning to her loser school acquaintance, but why? There are so many other fish in the sea, so why can't she see that? Was she 'imprinted' like Jacob in Twilight? (LOL). And this infatuation continues for decades. Remind me how much time they have actually spent together over the period in this movie? If it is one day per year over 20 years, this is only 20 days. Truly nuts.

    2. Dexter, her love interest, is one flawed bloke. What does she see in him? God knows. He was such a boring, substance abuser and serial womanizer. Eeeooh. No true interest in Emma. Lots of evidence for that: not interested in her life (Emma realizes this at one point); distracted by other women in her presence; he feeds off her 'need' for him. He comes to realise that she is more sensible than he is and seeks her out when he has hit rock bottom decades later. Hello, she is still there for him!

It's a rather nasty fantasy I am afraid. No need to read anything deep and meaningful about the way these two carry on. True love is so much much better than what is shown here and you don't mess around like these two do when you find it. That's because you know it is special from the start, and when you have it, you truly don't let go of it, till death do you part.
