The premise is fascinating, daring and the beginning is (even as a horror film) promising, the beauty ideal but especially the greatest fear of women, growing older and becoming redundant, which in fact comes down to getting less and less attention from men and getting attention in general is a fascinating theme.
Of course Dennis Quaid as the bearer of bad news is the scapegoat in this story in the beginning, but the saying goes for a reason (the wall is undefeated) and Demi Moore's character has hit the wall hard.
After the SF horror part takes over the story, the film does not really sag, but towards the end it unfortunately does so in an embarrassing way, couldn't something smarter have been done with this concept instead of this childish nonsense?
Another strange thing is the choice to let moore's character and her younger alter ego be 2 total seperate characters , if you think about it , why would Moore continue with this if she cannot enjoy the experience herself .

A great murder mystery story in which an up-and-coming model is found murdered in her apartment, and suspicion automatically falls on her manager, who, however, maintains his innocence.
The police chief inspector seems obsessed with the case and wants to frame the manager for the murder at all costs, and he frequently goes overboard in his investigation.
The cast does a fine job, although perhaps Richard Boone, who plays the chief inspector, overacts a bit.
Both women are real beauties, and in my opinion, Jeanne Crain as Jill is the real stunner (you don't see beauties like these two in Hollywood anymore).
I did not know this was a remake , i am curious about the original from 1941 .

Sam Donovan (Dennis O'Keefe) is an insurance detective in a small town investigating the suicide of a policyholder. All signs point to murder, but no one in the victim's hometown is willing to cooperate. Local sheriff Larry Best (William Bendix) also seems intent on hindering Sam's investigation.
Meanwhile, Sam falls in love with Anita Weatherby, but there's a major problem: the policyholder appears to have been murdered, and suspicions of who the perpetrator is increasingly pointing towards Anita's father.
At times, this film feels more like a cross between a detective story and a love story with a strong Christmas twist than a hardcore murder mystery.
It's a somewhat odd combination, but it works.
