Both Joy and Donald were not particularly likeable people. Obviously Donald did not deserve to be murdered but both were involved in shady businesseith the whole drug business and all. Everyone also told Donald to leave Joy cause they all saw that she was bad news but he repeatedly chose not you.
In some ways he brought this mess in his life. He knew Joy did not treat his daughter well but he still chose to stay with her. Hard to feel sorry for people who turn a blind eye to certain issues until those issues start directl impacting them. I feel sorry for the daughter but I honestly don't think there was anything she could have done to save her father. Joy was clearly unhinged plus she was also a little girl when her father was murdered...

Sarah's father was a terrible and evil man. Even before he had started with the whole arson scams he'd already killed someone for just stealing his guns. I wonder if the mother had left then would she have survived ? Hard to tell because he was a conniving psychopath. So maybe her life was already marked the moment she met that man.
I reckon the father probably discussed the life insurance policy with Sara's mom but she probably was against it hence the forging of the signature. She knew too well that her husband and insurance were two words that should never be uttered in the same sentence. Any insured thing her husband touched always had a catastrophic ending and I highly doubt that she was going to sign her life off hence the manipulation of the daughter to fodge her mother's signature. That life insurance guy OMG!, I hope he's dodgy, inept, lazy bum haunts him to this day. Despicable that he just went along with forging a signature.
Sad that the friend of the mum also became a victim of this evil scum but yeah the father was definitely trying to burn Sara alive and was probably looking for the perfect time and the right conditions to do it or maybe he was just working up the nerve to do it since this time it might have been harder as it was his daughter. But I'm not entirely sure about that because he seemed like a very selfish man with a "better you going down than me" type of mentality
He was probably angry as hell that the police got to him before he could kill his daughter hence why he didn't want to talk to her when he was behind bars. She was already dead to him....

Why was Stevie still living in that house with no job and in his 20s and why were they buying him guns? That is typical enabling behaviour. Even if he had a job and could afford to buy those guns himself, considering how problematic he was he needed to be far away from them. They had done their job and raised him for those 18 years. The boy did not need to be coddled but oh boy did they coddlue him. No wonder he started controlling them and had them following his stupid little whims and tantrums because he saw them as chumps and pushovers he could control, use and live off for the rest of their lives. The sister was smart to ban him from her wedding.
What I can't believe is even after threatening to kill the wedding guests, ignoring his ban to not come to the wedding and then pointing a shotgun to his brother and threatening to kill Paul's family, why did they still not cut off ties with this big psycho baby. Why was his guns not taken away from the house? Letting your grown son whoop your ass to the point that you have to be hospitalized and still bonding him out and letting him live in your house is mind boggling to me.
Seems like there was only one person with common sense in that house and that was the daughter. And she is a very self-aware lady to admit that a lot of poor choices were made by a lot of people in that family even though it is quite evident to many that this ia not the way to raise your son. Thank god he didn't massacre that whole family. They were extremely lucky that he only stopped at one person.
