It starts off strong with an intriguing premise and solid performances, especially from Christian Bale and Russell Crowe. The atmosphere and direction are on point, and the film builds an interesting dynamic between the characters. BUT... the ending!
The finale is a complete disaster. It feels nonsensical, illogical, and utterly ruins the tension that was carefully built up throughout the movie. The characters' actions in the final act make no sense and seem like they were written just to force some unnecessary drama. Instead of a satisfying conclusion, you're left frustrated and wondering why the film squandered its potential. The son is so annoying. You should not use kids in any movies that think they are smarter than every adult. In summary: A movie that begins well but completely derails with a terrible ending. Such a waste of a promising setup. But great cast and acting.

I was hoping the series would offer something better. Unfortunately, it's incredibly slow-paced, with no action or thrills-just boring and poorly written dialogue. Much of the so-called "action" consists of two characters meandering around, trying to recall details. If that's what you enjoy, this series might be for you. It kicks off with an insufferable teenager who clearly needs some boundaries. What kind of adult lets a child respond with "Whatever"? That's blatant disrespect, and parents who accept such behavior are inviting trouble. The teenager's attitude was enough to make me tune out for good. Then there's the husband's note: "Protect her." What a vague and unhelpful message! If he had time to write that, he could have provided clear guidance instead of leaving it cryptic. Is this rude teenager really the only type we see in today's media? This stereotype, reminiscent of Meadow Soprano, is getting old. If you're curious why the series feels so slow, it's because there's hardly any real action. I can't remember a single thrilling moment, aside from the ridiculous ending. Even the first episode drags on, highlighting how little content there actually is.
The trailer is great and the movie starts great. Scenes, Atmosphere, music. Storyline.. The main female character actor is not likeable at all. Why is she choosen by the lead investigator? Only because she said one sentence about the possible suspect while drinking coffee and filming when people left the building? She does not smile, nor is she shown to be likeable in any way..
Nothing made me like her or route for her. The political stuff was great, the pacing is slow and had less action than expected. But the there comes the last 15 minutes. Motive and story totally collapse and ruin what was an 8/10 to a 4/10 or less. The climax is very weak. The ending ruins it, no real catch, just randomness that leaves you feel empty and unhappy. But maybe this was the intention.
So if you like Inside Man or the old thrillers from the 90s it has all the ingridients, but misses the mark a lot to be great or even satisfying with this ending!
