Having read the reviews on IMDB, I did not expect much from this - and it was great to be surprised!
Orlando Bloom is far superior here to anything he did in his blockbuster cinema releases. The leading lady from the later Jurassic Park movies is brilliant. Even Sean Bean knocks it out of the park in what amounts to a minor role for him.
The plot is engaging, the acting is great, the script is witty, and the action scenes excellent. I haven't enjoyed another film as much since watching Guy Ritchie's 'The Gentlemen', which some of the black humour resembles.
No nudity, no swearing that I remember, no gory violence, yet the film delivers a 100 minutes of entertainment. What more can you ask for?

Never having read the book upon which this film is based, I have no idea whether the source material is good or bad Science Fiction. Netflix are obviously getting so desperate for material they will turn anything into a movie. However, I'm afraid that throwing Chris Pratt into the ring with a stupid hairstyle and a load of robots with extremely irritating and childish personalities does not a good film make, regardless of how much you spend on the SFX.
The violence is gore-free PG, the science and logic questionable, the morality simplistic, the ending predictable. I guess it would pass as a kids' film, up to about 12-14 years. Such viewers could probably empathise with the boy at the centre of it all, although more likely they would fantasize about his big sister.
Unless you are an adult with a robot fetish, or a great fan of Chris Pratt with a perm, IMHO I would give this film a miss....
