MINISuperCooper's rating
This is a pretty solid flick. It's not your typical thriller, and I feel like it falls more in the vein of Fargo. If you like Fargo, I'd say you'll like this movie as well. I'm not sure why the deputy's uniform has Texas on it when the movie seems to be set in Missouri? That's the only strange thing I saw, but maybe that had something to do with the county where it's set. The acting was impressive. Ted Levine was amazing, as he always seems to be. If you like artistic cinematography, there were a lot of impressive shots. Kudos to the director and cinematographer! It's one of those films that weighs on you after you watch it. It's a bit like watching a car wreck. You know things can't end well, but you keep watching anyway.
This movie is a pleasant surprise. I was going to watch a little bit of something and get back to work on some stuff. I couldn't stop watching this movie. It's a solid film top to bottom. Acting is great, and character development is descent. Music is good. CGI, props, and animatronics were all very believable. I don't really have any complaints other than there's just not a lot of science behind it. Bikini Island doesn't have a bunch of mutant bugs to my knowledge, and to my knowledge there's no evidence that radiation could ever do this. However, in the Love and Monsters universe...totally possible. This is the way movies work. :)
Anyway, no real complaints. If you like giant monster movies, this is one of the best. Go enjoy it!

I'm not sure what's going on with the rating on this movie. It currently sets at 5.1, which seems pretty low for this movie. I'd say it should be at least 6.5, and this is coming from a person who doesn't normally like this type of film. Granted, it's not a super realistic depiction of real life fire fighting or life in general, but it's not supposed to be. This is more in the vain of goofy 80s comedies like "Planes, Trains, and Automobiles," "Christmas Vacation,""The Great Outdoors," etc. It's heartwarming and makes you feel good. The performances were good. I recommend this one. It's one of the best comedies I've seen in a long while.
