All the right ingredients for a topical comedy about the early age of COVID. Interesting characters, recognizable faces, and a universal struggle to which we can all relate.
It's not a blockbuster so be aware of what you are getting into. The monster looks pretty great for the budget level. The practical effects are convincing. There are a few recognizable names/faces thrown in there to give the film legitimacy. Overall, a fun and decent monster movie.
People seem to be expecting a monster/gore fest with this film and it is not that at all. It's a slow decent into disconnection. People saying that the lead can't act seem to be missing the point of the whole first act of the film. Go in with the appropriate expectations. And don't blink or you'll miss important information that guides you through the film.
It's indie but not unprofessional, it's psychological and suspenseful, and it really comes alive in the third act.
