Let's get straight to the point, this is a remake or Daljit's "Jaat & Juliet", to the point where cinematography of Canada can feel straight up lifted from the original. However, this is the kind of feel good movie you watch while you're having a bad day or worse week where at the end of it's two and half hours runtime you'll find yourself smiling and kinda forget about your problems, be it for a brief period. Another surprising aspect of Bangali Babu English mem is despite being a almost shot by shot remake the dialogues are well written and fits within Bangali context very well. Songs are pretty good considering its a commercial. Acting is reasonably strong for the most part, will keep you engaged throughout the runtime. Comedy is average at best.
(I have a tendency to write reviews for old bengali commercial movies which didn't have a review on IMDB but I enjoyed watching during while I was a teenager. These movies bring back so many good memories)

This movie is one of my guilty pleasure movies. The story was something different, not the usual hero-fights-the-universe-to-get-that-girl type usually seen in Bangla commercial cinemas (there's a romantic subplot where hero gets the girl though) however the highlight of this movie would be the impeccable comedy performance by Kanchan and Rudraneel supported by a pretty good script with absurdity funny and non offensive dialogues (no swearing involved too) which Bangalis of all ages and class can relate to. Well Dev might be Dev with that same wooden dialogue delivery however great acting from the ensemble cast (Victor Banarjee still got that aura) was enough to mask that. Songs are okeish, pacing is good, fights are anime like (seriously what did you expect).
I don't know if it's a copy of any South Indian movie or not however the script doesn't feel like translated. I still remember watching in it a house full single screen all hooting and cheering during my college days. I simply wrote the review because it still doesn't have any on IMDB and I absolutely adore this movie despite it's shortcomings, so I wrote one.
