Simple story addresses 1930s racism. Cliches and tropes abound. Was pleased to see that veteran actor, ivan dixon, directed this episode. Puzzled as to why cleavon little is not credited for his solid role in this piece.
This episode had a great premise but the story was addle-brained! How can a stranger turn a whole town against an established upright citizen of that town? And in this case hoss was justified to do what he did in the beginning. And how come scatman crothers wasn't a recurring character on this show? Judd struck an emotional chord with me.
Good episode but unsettling. the way george kennedy obsessed over katherine ross is down right cringy. royal dano is always excellent. burt reynolds is a bit too blase and nonchalant towards the man who's charged to kill him.
