I love manga. And when it's put onto screen well I am a very happy man.
This has it all; over the top characters (dad....), ridiculous storyline, dramatic dialogue, quality MC, but above all some delightfully choreographed violence.
While not essential for enjoying the violence it is worth following the faiirly complex story. You do get occasional updates which helps you keep up. Ultimately I like knowing who is killing who and why in some fully expected ways, some more gruesomely fulfilling.
The acting is pretty good overall, a couple of villains not quite up to it apart from that it ranged from competent to excellent and the main character pulls off teen assassin brilliantly. All the main roles are physical and the action scenes choreographed perfectly.
It is very manga. New storylines dropped in out of the blue and with an assumption of a fully integrated and known character. Madness being normal. Ultra violent teen assassins commonplace etc.
If you like properly watching a film it's definitely for you. Dense fast changing but consistent story and I don't know if I mentioned, but a lot of violence.
On a final note, a quote:
"Tell me. What is love to you?" "A cactus!" .
. .
"Boring, try again"
Dad again.
Enjoy.

There's a story, there's things going on we don't understand. No one aspect apart from the general star warsyness going on.
2 episodes in and the story has real meat to it which makes a nice change.
The action is well choreographed, good quality and enjoyable to watch.
The whodunnit thriller part working well. (Again nice not to have too much obvious... Goodie v baddie stuff) And strengthens the story.
Characters develop, interesting people etc.
Acting good and competent actors.
I wrote this review with a sense of genuine bafflement as to why the 1 and 2 star reviews. It's a good start wars piece of entertainment.
