  • A very funny and important film

Stree above all is a brilliance of writing. Writers Raj Nidhimoru and Krishna DK the right notes and have made a spooky yet charming and hilarious film about a spirit named stree who abducts men, but only after taking there consent. The film works on three levels one being a a nice horror film, second being a genuine comedy with clever lines, and the third and the most important being a satire on the conditions of women in India. We have seen the satire films not working previously like 'Bangistan' but stree doesn't hit a false note. The actors are all at the top of their game. Pankaj tripathi, Aparshakti khurrana, Abhishek Bannerjee all are perfect for their parts; Sharaddha kapoor is perfect as this mysterious woman whom Vicky's friend consider to be the 'Chudail', and everyone know the Rajkumar Rao can do wrong ever; I MEAN JUST GIVE HIM ALL THE AWARDS.

  • Ranbir Kapoor's Sanju is no less than Daniel Day-Lewis's Linoln

Making a biopic on a person who is still alive and still very much relevant is merely an impossible job, but Rajkumar Hirani does it with perfection. Sanju the biopic of Sanjay Dutt is one hell of a movie. Not only does it deal with the drug and the jail phase of Sanjay Dutt's life but also make it a human story. You might wonder how can one person have lead so many different lives in one lifetime. Ranbir Kapoor dives deep into the character of Dutt. The eerie similarity between him and Dutt might confuse you for a few minutes. But essentially Sanju is a father-son relationship story and a friendship story. Although we do get a glimpse of Dutt's love life with Ruby played by Sonam Kapoor and Dia Mirza who plays his wife Manyata Dutt. Vicky Kaushal, Paresh Rawal and Manisha Koirala are great in their respective roles. In the end Sanju might as feel feel as a film that portrays him as the one who is wronged so many times in his life. But i think I might as well be knight-picking here as 'Sanju' is one hell of a film.

  • Srijit Mukherji doens't fail to impress this time

Srijit Mukjerji the mind behind the brilliant films like 'Chotushkone' ( a gripping thriller) or 'Hemlock Society' ( a dark comedy ) seemed to have lost his mojo for the last few films. Ventures like 'Nirbak' ' Bugum Jaan' and more recently 'Yeti Obhijaan' were very disappointing indeed. But this time he has managed to deliver a yet delightful film about how far a father can go to make her dying daughter's last wish to come true. It's refreshing to watch Jishu Sengupta on screen, he seems to have evolved a lot as an actor in the past few years. Even though the film is full of legendary actors like Anjan Dutta it is actually Sara Sengupta essaying the title role of Uma who steals the show. Anyone who is from Kolkata and has witnessed Durja puja here will know what an impossible job it is to create a 'fake durga puja' in kolkata. But that's fine as Srijit never lets us ask a lot of question about the possibility of this happening. Though the film is genuinely a very good film, the colfilcts at times feel a little repetitive and a few characters are outlandishly too bad and cruel, and one particular sudden change of heart is a little unconvincing. But one cannot disagree that Srijit Mukherji is back in form and boy what a nice film he has made.
