Probably the weakest film made by one of the best Spanish cinema directors, very precise and accurate, with a proficient control of the image.
But making a film is difficult, the screenplay has flaws, the story lacks depth, the line of action loses credibility and strength.
A very expensive film, though, with reach costumes, a nice atmosphere, somewhat poor in content.

A clear excess of footage in a feature film which has resonances of Altman, Coen, Tarantino, De Palma and Hawks.
The performances reach some kind of excess, as well, with this fashionable, expresssionist unnecesary style.
The main actor repeats the same action at least three times, he takes off his glasses and wipes the sweat from his forehead, three times, is there not an editor or the director did not shoot enough takes?
Although the subtext idea of the story is admirable, reflecting the poisonous atmosphere that is with us today, using a big metaphor, sadly, the main points of the story are not well underlined and it turns into an unbearable picture towards the third part of the story.

Based on the diaries of Neus Pipó, the protagonist, a girl, follows the path of her parents, both dead, looking into the past lives of them, using real facts and her own imagination, correcting all and contrasting the different versions she receives from her family (friends, uncle, aunt...).
The research leads her to a sea she likes a lot and makes her ask herself: how many kinds of youngsters were posssible in the 80's in Spain (those times where they lived)?
The film has a very clear influence of Antonioni (The Adventure, The Passenger & especially Zabriskie Point, with the naked bodies of a man and a woman playing, fighting and making love on the sand).
But the movie also follows the director's own background, a well forged and consolidated style.
