This movie pissed me off and wasted my night before going to bed. Its deceiving in how bad it is because of how slowly bad it gets as time goes on. The premise could have been good/ok I mean, I like Chris and Dakota and as for Pedro, I don't really know him besides how much the internet seems to hate him. Then the movie portrayed him as an "alpha male unicorn" like a 10/10 on looks, status, rich, single ect.
Couldn't have they casted a more convincing actor to play as a unicorn though? Was this Pedro's self-indulging idea or the Directors? I'm guessing it's the director's mess because this is a directionless pile of dung. I've had my suspicion and alas I was right. The story goes nowhere. Like the premise was the only part written and the rest is whatever. I tried to still finish it because I've wasted my time already as I scroll through my phone. The dialogue is distractingly unrealistic. I couldn't take it anymore and shut it down.

I watched this not knowing that it is based on a true story, but a true story that in my opinion isn't a very good one. It got me thinking though, was the true story just not that interesting or that the movie came out lackluster because of it simply sticking within the boundaries of the facts. That said, the first half of the buildup is pretty decent.
Now I'm wondering that this movie could have been much better creatively written as fiction because for one, the main character is a dumbbell that just made it hard to relate to or form a bit of connection with. Therein lies the down spiral of the story. Channing was solid and charismatic as usual on screen and made it tolerable to sit through and Kirsten's acting was great, but I felt like she was miscast.
Chan may not be your type, and I'm a straight dude but he is still a stud and no matter how uninteresting and dorky they made him look here and yet we get a glimpse of his supposed ex-wife here looking like it's his auntie/mother in law or to kindly put it, looks like he picked her up at a random bar under the blackout beer goggles influence and decided then to make a family. We are watching a movie, put some spiciness in it and I don't mean that by forcibly making us legit watch Chan's bare butt naked jump up and down in your face, stabbing my eyeballs for like a good long 2 minutes. Where the hot MILFS at? This aint no charity.

I wasn't expecting a story so lackluster. Is this drama, comedy, romance? It doesn't feel like any of those at all. It feels like a whole lotta nothing actually. A romantic story is pretty simple and straight forward, but the real challenge is creating chemistry between the stars of the movie. And this is where it all falters.
There was zero chemistry between the two main characters. The setup with how they met was just poorly done with no effort mixed in with some strange interaction. The dialogue/scrip was like they were in a stage play.
