I should break this review down into three parts, the technical, the narrative and the ethical.
As for the technical part, the actors are very skilled and the director was able to create the right atmosphere for the story.
The narrative part, on the other hand, pissed me off. The protagonist is the classic self-centered and closed-minded white guy who comes from a first world country and lords over the streets of a third world country, thinking he is above the law, that he controls everything that happens and that everyone must obey his wishes, as well as being extremely careless of the value of the lives of those around him. Furthermore, the story does not make much sense in itself because the protagonist has literally witnessed everything, instead in the end he acts as if nothing happened and everyone must feel guilty because they lied to him. Furthermore, there is a type of representation of women that is quite bad, that is, women who are quite weak and cannot survive without relying on men.
The ethical part is even worse. The Australian protagonist of Italian origins is instead a British of Anglo-Saxon origins. The female character should be of Indian origins, instead the actress is French. The Italian character is played by a British of Italian origins, the Iranian one is Lebanese, the Spanish one is Egyptian. Madame Zhou is played by a German actress, when she should be anything but German. Kader Khan should be Afghan, instead the actor is half Sudanese and half British. The problem is a widespread misrepresentation of nationalities that leads people to have a distorted perception of reality and ends up creating inferiority or superiority complexes. For example, Karla has a typical European and French beauty propagated by the European media that leads Indians and non-Indians to aspire to a standard of beauty that does not belong to India and feeling inferior towards Europe.

I am delighted to have accidentally found this treasure. The story is extremely beautiful and compelling. It never gets boring. The characteristic of the style is the exasperation of the negative traits of reality, the cruelty of human beings or the indifference of nature, but at the same time an ambivalence is always present, meaning things are bad, but they can also be good. You somehow can empathize with everything and everyone, even with those who should be the antagonists, whether they are humans, animals or plants. The series is quite distressing, so I recommend not watching it if you are going through a difficult time because it would further exacerbate your fears.
The first thing to know about this show is that it does not claim to be realistic and it does not pretend to be a documentary on the life of young people in a juvenile prison in Naples. Once you understand this, the show will be awesome. The characters are very well done, the setting is interesting and the story is compelling. I cried with every episode. Massimiliano Caiazzo's acting is perfect.
