It's a film made by one of the top filmmakers of all time, written by one of the best screen writers and filmmaker of all time, the music written by one of the best modern composers of our time, and features a cast of some of the best actors of our time - yet, the film is complete chaos.
When 1941 begins, you immediately sense a possible parody. In fact, throughout the film, there are a lot of nods to past films that feel like the beginnings of several parody films.
I also felt like some of the scenes might've inspired future Spielberg films, maybe even a few episodes of Amazing Stories.
I kept waiting for something to latch onto, a story to carry me through the end of the film and land in what I hoped to be another epic Spielberg ending, but it just never takes off. It's just one chaotic messy scene after another.
It's like Spielberg sat down with Robert Zemekis, they did lots of shots, and wrote the script in one night.
What I loved about the film was some of moments of beautiful cinematography, John Williams' film score, and all of the familiar faces in the cast. I also think some of our favorite parody films would not have happened without 1941.
1941 - everyone should see it once.

The first episode of Billionaires' Bunker was great, lots of dystopian drama, plot twist, and suspense. Beginning in episode two, the show progresses into a soap opera. And it stays there. For the remainder of the season.
Part of the story is spent jumping back & forth between the present in the bunker & these planning sessions in the past - those also continue until the end of the season. It seems like the planning sessions should have resolved earlier in the season.
There were also these scenes where they would play an entire 3-4 min song over a montage of scenes, seemingly to drive home a plot point - but it felt more like a music video. And filler.
I really wanted this series to be more compelling. And overall, better.
