After sort of watching several episodes I noticed a change and began actually watching. The "baby genius" cast members were very frustrating though I'll agree.
The writers shouldn't require their audience to tolerate a program and then suddenly greatly increase interest and intrigued. People had already quit watching by then.
By Series 1 Episode 10, I was definitely hooked. William's personality and evolution was a completely new take on AI. It may be the reason I kept watching in the beginning. By Series 2 some new crew members had to be awoken from soma which also helped.

I discovered this show on a Friday night and had watched 3 seasons by my return to work on Monday. I do not enjoy American crime or mystery programs at all because the characters are stale and boring. I simply do not watch them.
But there's no point to it and nothing to understand.
Don't waste your time like I did.
