  • Harry Potter in space

In the first place, I'm sorry for insulting Harry Potter. It's absolutely ok as a family cinema, designed for a fairly wide age range. Anyway, I hope that aliens come to Earth and plant their seeds in the brains of the producers of this painfully wasted opportunity, abomination of the Alien series, and sci-fi genre in general. It's hopelessly disgusting unwatchable and sad. If the Disney kids were at least ripped apart by the monsters, it would be watchable, but unfortunately they seem to survive. Great CGI and set design, the only reason I give it any stars. I'm a big Alien and sci-fi fan and I lasted 1 3/4 episodes. Very upsetting.

  • A supreme cinematic cocktail

I haven't seen a movie so good in a long time, where do I even start. Visually the movie is so stunning, even with a dumb story it would be watchable. The fantasy scenography and costumes are enhanced with the black and white and/or wide angle filming and create a truly fairytale atmosphere. When I saw the credits I knew it would be a great movie.

The story is absolutely fantastic. Fresh, wild and brave. Being a parent I'm observing an evolution of the giddy and dysfunctional human being into an awkwardly adult and semi-responsible and semi-serious creature. The character development is very engaging and the director managed to create a protagonist that everyone sympathises with despite the flaws or questionable choices. Reminds me of Tim Burton's heros in Corpse Bride or Edward Scissorhands - against-all-odds weirdo but we love them.

The dark humour is brilliant and the mockery of British aristocracy is simply priceless. But the winner is the overall balance and the impression left behind, funny but not cheesy, fantasy but not childish, intelligent and outrageous. I wish all movies were like this. A real talent, hats down.

  • I prefer to watch my cats puke

It's a bit like watching a trailer of a video game, made in the old Unreal engine and played back on an old computer. I can't believe that someone could get absolutely everything wrong in a single movie. Messy and chaotic camera movement, really bad CGI, editing, colour correction, lighting. Terrible story that doesn't really go anywhere. A musical but with absolutely terrible music. Not funny slapstick jokes.

And what is with these characters, awkward people with no genitals in spandex. Can't stop thinking about those guys who get on a cheap flight to Majorca wearing a penis costume.

Is this movie meant for children (why would anyone else even want to watch it)? So then why everyone is so ugly, angry and unpleasant? The general feeling this movie leaves behind is frustration and confusion. Whoever is responsible for making it so awful should seek professional help and stop making movies.
