  • A nice job that stands out

I'm wary of Turkish comedies, I don't usually like them. They're usually too dramatic and silly.

This series said that I am different from its first scene and chose its audience. I like it overall.

But, until the middle of the second season, the two main characters' quarrels and dialogues with each other were funny and entertaining. Until the middle of the second season, then Vedat overdo and turned into a toxic character. It's not nice to watch a toxic character constantly arguing unnecessarily. The series is already 20 minutes. His humiliation of Evren repeatedly turned me off from the show. Of course there will be conflict between the two, but that was respectful before. The bond was broken when one crushed the other and became toxic. Still, I will watch it again from where I left off. I hope they realize this and fix it in the upcoming episodes.

  • Harsh

This is a propaganda film with a biased point of view, although it often makes the right points. In that respect, it's just like Hollywood war movies, but it's quite harsh too...

This time you will see it from a completely opposite perspective of the American view. I don't know if this has been done before with such a big budget and quality visuals. You may want to experience this rare thing and maybe It can give you a new perspective.

It's a movie that was shot under the influence of the "Hood Event". Judging by how agressive the movie is, you can imagine the climate at that time. This incident also takes place in the movie. And the discourse of the American villain(Billy Zane) about the event is remarkable which is quite odd. He deals a solid blow to the motivation of our main character. Zero impact though.

Another thing is, the movie really made some people quite angry. You should watch the debate on NBC when it came out. The presenter is talking about the Jewish doctor (I agree it's a little absurd). But it's the easiest spot to hit the movie. There were a lot of disturbing scenes in the movie though. Presenter said they hadn't seen the movie.

Billy Zane deserves a spot in this review. Without his acting, much would be missing from the movie. He almost stole the role from the main character. It's just not good that the religious aspect dominates his character though. But he was still a good character.

  • A little worse than I expected. Let me explain why.

Cheesy special effects welcome you in the first minutes. Thus, it creates a prejudice from the very beginning. But then some of the special effects look confusingly mature. In one of his videos, he talked about a vfx company that he would work with on this project, which had worked on some of the biggest projects in the business. At first i thought, they probably said, "Let the Goodbye Kansas make the difficult vfx effects, we can handle the easy ones here." because some effects stands out. But it seems like they realized that they bite off more than they can chew once they started it. I didn't see the name Goodbye Kansas in the closing credits btw. So I'm confused.

I have been following Alper Çaglar's projects for years. Dag 2 was a 7/10, then he had lowered my expectations with the Börü series 6/10 and Börü movie 4/10.

In 2039, you will notice the "inspirations" from some very famous movies. Maybe it would be more accurate to say it was more than inspirations. He dipped Hollywood's favorite recipes in a little Turkish sauce. But he can't quite do that either. It seems that just making the names in Turkish and shooting the series in Istanbul wasn't enough. Especially he can't handle the dialogues. I even suspect that he wrote the dialogues in English and translated them into Turkish. Because you constantly hear sentences that a Turk will set up different but you are used to hearing in American movies. Dubbing artists try to convey the difference in English language with these strange sentence structures. It's like '' Sonun geldi lanet olasi! '' . But the people in this series are Turkish and their language is Turkish... I don't know if Alper Çaglar is trying to create a unique language and a cinematic universe of his own where Turks speak like an American movie's Turkish dubbing.

Why would you film the same scene where Nick Fury is attacked in Captain America: The Winter Soldier? Why try to replicate a recipe made by the Americans without adding anything different to it? Americans are already doing the best at this stuff. So If I want to watch something like this, I'll go and watch them. At least I wouldn't have watched a cheap replica.

"Now the whole world knows that we have a very secret organization." Uh! Oh! What are we going to do now? The world found out we got a Turkish Avengers and a low poly fake Iron Man.

Jarvis?! Heh! Lame... We have our Kam. His voice is better too (lol it's gruesome).

Those who make science fiction films in Turkey usually add parody and comedy to it. I think it's because they know that if they make a movie that takes itself seriously, they won't be able to achieve it and they will be a laughing stock.

Now we have Börü 2039. It takes itself seriously. But not good enough for that. Even Twitch streamers don't get a white frame when using a green screen, you are making a series... I will take an optimistic view and say Alper Çaglar is really a nationalist and he is not just someone who exploits the feelings of nationalist people. Even after this raw "thing". I will believe he just wants to do something nice, but he can't. But my credit ran out. I can't take more than that. My expectations about the Göktürk project also sank to the bottom.

It's just bad and I am disappointed. I'd like to praise you, but it turned out worse than I expected.

At least, a decent vfx would make this series 5/10. Okay, the script is a hollywood cliché. But what happens if you skip the vfx while getting the cliché script? Börü 2039.
