Episode one was scaringly good. But after that... it drags on and on. The main character is not a person to identify with. Egocentric, obnoxious, just a bad person.
I know Bill Burr as a sharp observer when he shows up as a guest in several late nights shows. Human behavior is met with humour and cynicism in a way we all appreciate. So I had high expectations watching this show. After 10 minutes I started to think: is this the same guy? On an on cringy ranting on US topics (in a London show!), smirking at his own jokes. I didn't laugh once and switchted it off.
Well it isn't bland. Enough interesting things to make you stay and watch, mostly thanks to well chosen cliffhangers. But I agree, the choice of most characters and their dialogue is not good. Swearing, insubordination, casual clothing. It doesn't belong on a serieus space mission to save the earth. I guess the makers wanted to stay far away from a formal environment like startrek, but the choices that are made are understandable negatively criticized by most viewers.
On the positive side, the performances of Sackhoff and Anderson are superb. I'm sure the others actors will do much better when their dialogues improves. The storyline is getting better along the way and the SFX is okay.
If this series gets a second season, I will surely watch.
