Meh...the movie made me feel tension at some points, but not because of the actual aliens. I felt tension because the characters were so STUPID and I was in suspense because maybe they'd do something smart for a change! I cared for a total of 3 characters: Walter, David, and Daniels. (I thought that Daniels was a pretty good character because while she was kind of a crybaby, I found that she was the smartest of all the main characters and stayed strong throughout the movie--that's not saying much, but it's something.) Fassbender's acting was AMAZING, and I love how creepy he made David. But other than those 3, all the other characters are bland, poorly-written, and they make dumb decisions that expert scientists that have trained for YEARS for this should not be making. I feel bad for the actors who had to work with such bad writing.

The plot was meh. Very predictable and kinda ruins the mystery that the original Alien movie gave off. What the original had was the whole "unknown" factor. This is a creature that no one knows of that can do all these killer (lol) things. It promotes the idea that the universe is so large that we truly cannot comprehend or really try to grasp all of it because in the end, we are puny and weak. This movie takes that fantastic mystery vibe and just kinda flushes it down the drain. It didn't even explain everything contained in its plot. There's a right and wrong way to not reveal everything in a single movie because it's supposed to have sequels, and this movie did it the WRONG way. I still don't know how the aliens were created nor do I care.

Why the 4 stars, though? Because of the visuals--that's it. The CGI felt like a slap to the face at times (mainly with the Xenomorph), but otherwise visuals were stunning and well-made. Some of the designs didn't make sense to me and the Xenomorph baby wasn't the same as in Alien, but otherwise cinematography was excellent. Also the 3 characters I mentioned before contribute to my generous rating.

In conclusion, I give this movie 4 stars because the plot wasn't good, characters were stupid, writing in general was bad, but I did like some of the acting and characters, and the visuals were great.

I actually came across this while searching a solution for an algebra problem. I had no idea that it would lead to a very thought-provoking short film that I will no doubt be thinking of for the rest of my life.

The acting is fantastic and so is the dialogue. The message is, like I said, very thought-provoking and left me wondering how I would deal with a situation like the one our characters are in. The music also creates a slightly creepy but beautiful atmosphere as you watch the slowly but surely-decaying state of our characters' mental health.

The only reason I gave it 8 stars instead of 9 or 10 is because I felt like it could have explained certain things with a little bit more detail--mainly the ending. I feel like that's the point of the film, though, but I still felt very unsatisfied and I really wanted more. Then again, perhaps that's the feeling that the director wanted us to feel given what happens. Also, I feel like it could have implemented the riddle of the Sphinx a bit better. It was mentioned once and then never again. Or maybe I'm just dumb and missing out on something major...

Overall, it is a great short film that I would definitely recommend, and I now really want to watch this guy's other films to see if they match the sheer sad beauty that 4.2.3 provides.

Let me tell you, as someone who was once a die-hard fan of this show, I look back on this and I just want to scream. Yes, it all makes more sense when you've played the game and all that, and based on what I've read the game is way better. But I'm not reviewing the game here. I'm reviewing the anime.

I would just like to say that I adore the music and the art. And the voice acting was incredible--especially in the subbed! The dubbed was okay, but in all honesty the voices don't really fit the characters (mainly Kanato and Laito). If you really wanna watch this, I recommend subbed. Kudos to all the voice actors, artists, and musicians that worked on this! Aaaaand that's about it for my praises.

Oh, dear...where do I even begin with how unhealthy this is? It basically takes the whole concept of "No means no" and pours it down the drain, which is a mentality that countless people have fought against for so many years only to have it be essentially PROMOTED in a show aimed at horny teenage girls!

Many people criticize Yui for being such a weakling, but I would like you to think of it this way: she's nice, she wouldn't swat a fly, and these boys will LITERALLY RAPE HER TO DEATH AND/OR SUCK OUT ALL HER BLOOD IF SHE TRIES TO LEAVE OR FIGHT AGAINST THEM. I honestly think that Yui is extremely strong for keeping up with them for so long. Which is sad because that just tells you how horrible the boys are. (Except Subaru. He's okay). And throughout the show, all this abuse and mental torture is subtly portrayed as sexy and desirable.

The story's okay. It makes more sense in the game, but we're not reviewing the game. And to be 100% honest, there is a fair amount of characterization in the Sakamaki brothers that makes sense once you know their backgrounds, something that's way more fleshed out in the game. But what are we not reviewing? The game!

"So why not just play the game and review that instead, Rory?" you're probably wondering. Oh, I don't know why! I honestly don't know why. It's almost as if I, just one among many many people, don't have the console required to play it, on top of not knowing Japanese which is not a language you learn in a day. I really don't know why. It's such a shame, people actually having to properly flesh out characters and story lines rather than rely on the source material that not everyone has access to. Such a pity...

If you really want to watch this show, then go ahead. I can't stop you. But be warned: there's many a disturbing scene. If you find yourself utterly disgusted or on the opposite end, turned on, I encourage you in either scenario to close the episode and take a nice walk outside after having set fire to your eyeballs for a few minutes.
