  • It's absolutely awful and I love it!

My god, this show is just pure, raw entertainment. It's so much fun to watch. Chris Pratt plays... America Man. A man wronged and getting justice his way. You just switch your brain off and enjoy the cathartic carnage of an American military man take on the world like we used to do. Like Arnie. Commando. Where Arnold Schwarzenegger plays... America Man. A man wronged and getting justice his way. Or Rambo. Where Sylvester Stallone plays... American Man. A man wrong and getting justice his way. It's just dumb and silly and unrealistic and just great fun to watch. The plot doesn't matter, the characters are all just one dimensionally there to drive our American Man to righting his wrong. Just sit back, relax and enjoy cool revenge action movie in between the boring bits where they tried too hard to stretch this into a thriller series.

  • About as good as sci-fi gets

I haven't seen Science fiction as good as this in a long time and I'm a big fan of the genre. It has a gripping storyline that hooks you in leaving you to watch episode after episode on Netflix until it asks you if you're OK.

Sci-fi as a genre has a habit of falling into the same kind of traps as horror. Two dimensional characters that you couldn't care less about that die in gory ways. Going over bored on the science side to the point of ridiculousness where all realism is gone and views feel stupid etc. The expanse manages to avoid these. While being set in the not to distant future where humanity has colonised the solar system, it focuses less on the scientific know how of how we got there and more on the effect that it has had on humanity as a whole. Politically, economically and morally.

The characters are relatable and their different causes all seem justified as the conspiracy to tear the solar system apart begins to play out through the first season, connecting the dots and crossing their paths and you generally start to root for them as more is revealed about them.

Would definitely recommend this title to anyone who is looking for a good sci-fi watch where the science doesn't seem as far-fetched and the setting really draws you in. Now I'm going to find the books.

  • Brilliant

I'd heard a lot about this film but refused to watch it for the same reason I don't eat Mc'donalds very often. It just seems lazy and bad for you. My god was I wrong. This film had me in stitches. It was literally everything that you could ever want in a B-movie. Ridiculous plot. Blatant disregard for any laws of physics. Hilariously bad dialogue and over the top gore and deaths to boot. All without trying to be too serious to some kind of morale objective. Sharknado is the pinnacle of B movie sarcasm that is such a delight to watch. I would highly recommend watching this with a few friends, having a few beers and just relaxing into the side splitting hilarity of it all. Embrace this movie.
