The times we are living now call for movies like this. They showcase how we can overcome obstacles by relying on each other.
Braff's story is at times melancholy and at times hopeful. At the end, there is more hope and awe than sorrow.
The execution falters slightly in places. Pacing might feel jagged here and there. All performances are not great. Some things are in the grey area-you are not quite sure if they are shoehorned in or not.
But they are not enough to diminish the watching experience. Above all it's a great story. It feels like an authentic story-not Hollywood glitz.

Entangles great comedy ideas from shows like Arrested development while continuing in the style of Rogen and Goldberg. Much of the show is shot as if it were a single shot which builds up anticipation that the story then makes great use of.
The second episode is especially commendable. It's fun, full of action, but has a great flow and pacing. Incredibly frustrating, but always comedic. Rogan is his classic self.
The cast is immense. The cameos are simply insane. It also has to be said that the settings are absolutely beautiful. The LA of the series is glitzy Hollywood fare with hollow honest people who are there to put forward their own cause.
Witty, light, self-deprecating, and fun. Makings of a classic the likes of Arrested Development or the Office.
