Like many user reviews have stated already, I too am finding the mother and daughter characters unbearable to watch. I'm now into episode 4 of series 1 and I have reached the stage where I just fast forward past their scenes. They add absolutely nothing to the storyline, so I can only assume someone in the production company is screwing one or both of them.
On the whole it's watchable, if you're into big hats, but like Yellowstone there's only so much hat you can take before it just gets in the way. Billy Bob and Jon Hamm hold this together, but the rest of the cast meh....

If actors have to be chosen in order to fulfill the diversity quota then please lets have someone who can actually act!. But it's clear right from the start that Lashana Lynch simply can't and the character she portays as an The MI6 agent is totally implausible. Where was she supposed to have gotten her training and firearms knowlege? Was it the military or was it some yardie slum? She can't even run fer Chrissakes, although she could certainly do with losing a few pounds. Would an MI6 agent really hold centre stage in situations like this just because of a knowledge of firearms? I don't think so. It got to the point where I was hoping the Jackal would take her out instead!!
Of course we also had to have the compulsory diverse family included in the storyline, shown sitting round the telly watching the news... really? When does that ever happen? Honestly those scenes were as annoying at watching Ms Lynch try to act. And surely the wardrobe department could have found her some trousers that fit....
Full marks however to Eddie Redmayne, he made the series for me and I was rooting for him from the start. Great series, shame about the awful Lashana Lynch.

This is without doubt one of the finest war movies made, depecting a much overlooked part of WW2 involving Finland.
Because of previous invasions into Finnish territory by Russia, Finland joined Nazi Germany when they declared war with Russia as a means to reclaim the land they had lost.
The series slowly builds each character and gives a detaled view of a soldiers life in and out of the front line. There is a welcome absense of the 'gung ho' shoot 'em up style so typical of every war film made that shows how America won the war on its own.
So take note Hollywood and see how to really make a war movie.
I reccommend this highly.
