This is possibly the best animated series I've ever seen, and that's seriously saying something. The writing is nothing short of genius. It manages to be a show for kids and adults at the same time, without alienating either. The writing is fiercely intelligent and it trusts that kids are smart enough to understand (because they are). This is one of the most positive, uplifting, exciting, funny shows there is. And yeah, you will cry some. Just stop reading this and go watch it. Things really start to take off towards the latter half of season 1
This is the first live action anime remake that is legitimately good. It's not just good by Japanese standards. It's good by ANY standard. The graphics and special effects look like they were done in Hollywood. The acting is genuinely good. The fight scenes are great. Hallows look perfect. They are forced to change the story some to turn it into a cinematic universe, but that's a good thing. The anime is great, but if you tried to put in all that detail then the movies would be unwatchable exposition. The movie just gets into the good stuff. So good.
This show quite simply shocked me. I assumed it would be cute and funny. It is both, but it is also thrilling and emotionally mature and intelligent. Just watch it. The end of season one had me literally standing up and yelling with the tv. So good.
