This is absolutely one of the best series i have watched this past season. The two main stars (the penguin and Sofia) are absolutely insane in their roles.
Farrell and Milioti couldn't be better. Farrell is unrecognizable under the rubber suit and make up and his performance is just amazing. Same for Milioti who i never knew before but she put herself on the radar now. She has so much charisma and her performance is both seductive and terrifying.
Each episode is gripping, each character is being focused on enough to know what is going on and create a sort of rapport with the viewer to the point that even scumbags are at least worthy of your respect.
Honestly, Farrell and Milioti are worth your time alone. Even if something like this is not to your liking.

It is unfortunate that an unlikely good show in the form of the original Castlevania has received such a middle of the road sequel.
The only thing that Nocturne has over it's predecessor is the animation quality and Alucards design. Other than that, it's painfully average and in many places even poor.
Why would you even care to make this without looking at what made the original such a hit? The biggest eye gouging happens when characters suddenly get power ups out of nowhere through the power of feelings. I am not joking.
Then you have a side story that takes too much space in the backround but it doesn't really amount to nothing other than spouting some political platitudes. Characters often behave completely irrationally and are often saved my "Deus Ex Machina" plot twists.
A few other things are shoved down our throats and again take too much space and with cringe dialogue to boot.
I give it 5/10 because of the increase to animation quality and a few episodes that are genuinely enjoyable and interesting. I would have been much more interested to watch that more.

I will not spoil any of the movie here. I have to say that i liked it for what it is. It is clearly a better movie than the previous attempts since the fifth entry but it keeps the same style a theme as those movies. That means we have a killer that needs to be found.
The only real complaign i have for this movie is the presentation and revelation of the killer. The killer had great potential to be a very nice dive into the darker parts of the human phsyche but it is not so. It started good trying to colour him but they did not follow through. Perhaps some better writing next time will be all it is needed in order to present a much better killer.
Overall the acting was adequete with the exception of the auditor who was great beyond the call of duty. Kudos to that. Also the new Pinhead actor is good. Not nearly as good as the Pinhead of old of course but he is good enough that in time he can actually grow on it and improve.
Do not listen to the nay sayers, this movie is worth a watch for the fans of the series. It leaves things to be desired of course due to budget but give it a go regardless. Who knows, maybe you will enjoy it.
