tarungjis's rating
This film is criminally underrated. Tamil audiences don't seem to understand the concept of surrealism, and theorizing films that generally "don't make sense". So what do they do? They trash talk the film and gice it a bad rating cause "boohoo what is this I don't uderstand this SO BAD!!!". Truly pathetic. This film is a good take on avant-garde cinema, defying general, stereotypical narrative storytelling. The cinematography, framing, and lighting is great. The film encapsulates the essence of surrealism, playing with interesting concepts such as philosophy, dreams, and the theory of knowledge. It does have a bit too much exposition at times, such as when the main character keeps mentioning plot developments to himself, out loud, and the use of songs. This isn't a musical, it's cinema. It truly sadddens me that the tamil cinema industry has produced so much of stereotypical and generic recycled trash, its audiences taste and understanding of art continues to decrease and distort itself into that of monkeys. 5.6/10 is a cruel rating for a film like this.
I give this a strong 9.3/10. One of the best tamil films of all time.

The fact that this episode is rated 7.6/10 is a literal crime. This artistic masterpiece deserves way more. The swimming scene is one of the most powerful scenes I have ever witnessed, this episodes brilliant artistry it to behold. Souya's entrance is such a wonderful and overwhelmingly good piece of direction. I can see why casual audiences would find this "boring", when in reality it's a slow-burn masterpiece which fleshes out its story in unique ways. 7.6 is not a bad rating per se, in fact it's a really good rating. But compared to the rating of other episodes, it is indeed low in that context. This deserves way more.
Watchman is a 2019 film directed by A.L. Vijay. The movie focuses on the character that was played by G.V. Prakash. This movie is precise and finishes in 90 minutes. Even if it was more than 5 minutes, it would have been really boring and unnecessary... There are no duet songs... Love songs... Build-up songs... and etc. There is just one song which is also not when the movie is running, it is in the credits scene. It is completely watchable. Usually, if this was a Pakka Tamil movie, they would drag one more hour, but this was precisely finished. G.V. Prakash's acting was acceptable, pretty good. The BGM is really good but it is a bit over-used in some scenes. When the villain is talking (in Hindi) there are irritatable dubbings added in the back. They should have gone with subtitles because the villain seemed to talk with full emotions. The dog's acting and stunts were impressive, it has done a good job. The girlfriend's scenes were not extra and was done precisely... Overall this movie is a really good film, an amazing thriller with a quick and crisp storyline. I highly recommend you to watch this... Don't listen to the other negative reviews... Those are reviewed by people that prefer highly commercial films by famous actors... A.L. Vijay has done a great job... Hat's off!
