And it wasn't.
The average rating is pretty fair in my view.
I love the original Conan the Barbarian and have watched it many times over the years.
This one should not have been made at all with its bad plot and worse dialogue.
Why take on an iconic movie franchise only to make a version that is not as good in every respect?
The only redeeming factor is that the female counterpart had the hot looks to make it worthwhile to forbear to the end.

The last WWII war movie I saw prior to this was Dunkirk, which I thoroughly hated because of how slow-paced and dull it was.
But this one is the complete opposite; its story evolves fast and the war scenes are incredibly well made. I saw some bad reviews based on how some war details are inaccurately depicted but as a regular guy I simply don't care if an MG42 machine gun sounds different in real life.
The movie succeeds in being entertaining and emotionally moving while laying bare the horrific consequences of warfare, and that is pretty much all I want from a war movie.
P. S. As background for the movie, it is worth mentioning that, after the annexation of Korea by Japan in 1910, Koreans were given Japanese nationality although they were denied many rights such as right to vote etc. During peace times, some Koreans volunteered to join the Japanese army for personal gain or to escape poverty, but in the later stages of the Pacific War, many Koreans were forcibly conscripted due to shortage of Japanese servicemen.

If I were to recommend just one Kpop girl group survival show it would be this because contestants in this show are extremely talented compared to other shows and are now active in some of the most popular new Kpop girls groups like Illit, Fifty Fifty and Izna.
The only reason I gave it a 9 instead of a 10 is that, in the end, the producers decided to weigh in more heavily on the final ranking decision rather than letting fan voting take its course. Many viewers who actively voted were let down because a large part of their voting was ultimately set aside in favor of the producers opinion.
However, many fan favorites who didn't make it in the contest still had the chance to showcase their skills and talent, and eventually debuted with other K-pop groups.
