Two of THE best and most enjoyable actors of their era - Jeanette Nolan and Jack Elam - anchor this episode, though everyone does an excellent job. Plus, it's interesting to see so many of the child actors who ended up in recognizable roles later. Especially Jodie Foster, who I think has always been an exemplary actor. It really tugged on your heartstrings - well, mine at least - to find out why Jeanette Nolan's character did what she did, and Kitty's reaction was certainly believable.
All in all, one of my favorites.

...this one was too much. I usually like Forrest Tucker a lot - between F-Troop and all his old movies he was in, I always found him entertaining. However, not in this one. This and the character's previous episode were a huge nope from me. They wrote this character overly obnoxious, and the oddly meandering storyline just wasn't enjoyable. I'm giving it a 3 cause I normally like him, he's a good actor, and I liked that Kitty was in it a lot - though totally different attitude towards Holly than his first episode so, continuity was nowhere to be found - and it's rare in the later episodes that ALL the regulars show up. So, it gets at least a 3. But, I turned it off in the first 20 minutes.
Miriam Colon was such a gorgeous woman, and a fine actress on anything I've seen her in , as was the man who played her husband but, this was one of the hardest episodes for me to watch - only because it was sadly so true, all the hate and cruelty directed toward Native Americans, just because they existed on lands stolen from them. This episode, I'm sure, isn't even close to what actually happened to those who rightfully should've been allowed to live where they had been for eons but, it was a great illustration for the time it was produced.
As well, Quint and especially Kitty were excellent protectors of this woman, and Kitty was ready to kick tail and take names - I just love that character.
Anyhow, difficult to watch but, worthy of compliments.
