  • Awful!

Despite a strong cast, this is the worst film I've watched in years. I literally wanted to throw something heavy at my TV at the end. It made absolutely no sense, had a weird (in a really bad way) storyline. I hoped it was going to get better as the film went on but it didn't. It was billed as the best film of 2022 so whoever said that didn't know what they were talking about. The ending was truly awful and I screamed at the TV at that point. The only good thing about the end was that I could turn off the TV and I didn't have to endure the film any more. I like Julia Roberts, she's an excellent actor and her films tend to be great, but I think, and hope, she'll want to forget all about this one.

  • Star Trek - The Musical?

Growing up as a child of the 1960s, I watched every episode of TOS. Since that time, I've followed nearly all series and episodes. TOS set the standard and in many ways I still like those old episodes. The budget then probably wouldn't even buy the cast's sandwiches today and the alien sets usually 'wobbled' but that was the charm. TNG set a new standard especially with the professional, Shakespearean acting of Sir Patrick Stewart. I think everyone has their own views on whether Voyager, DS9, Enterprise etc ever lived up to the previous incantations and I don't propose to express my own here. SNW is, in my opinion, has some of the very best storylines. I'd add s2 e9, Subspace Rhapsody, is one of the very best, if not THE best episode ever. Perhaps the next step will be on stage - Star Trek - The Musical!

  • Slow and disappointing.

A tragic event that galvanised a part of the civil rights movement. Sadly, it failed to capture the tragic events like "Long Walk to Freedom" or the drama of "Selma". It lacked a leading actor as Edris Alba did (Mandela). Too much of the film was a build-up to the terrible events of that fateful night which was such a shame. Neither did it seem to depict the farce of a 'trial' in sufficient detail. The music score lacked something. It didn't evoke either sadness for the mother's grief or anger at the injustice of a legal system which failed the family so badly. I've watched Mandela several times and haven't yet seen the end without a tear in my eye or Selma without remembering ML King's fabulous monologues. Till is not a film I feel inclined to watch again.
