It is difficult to find a genuine and entertaining movie in this decade but this movie surprised us. The opening sequence with the confusion build the movie extremely well and we were hooked. The back and forth between Bea and Ben (just spectacular choice of names) about whether they are playing the family or they want other love interests was extremely funny to watch. Whoever came up with the spider and coala bear sequence is a genius and must be rewarded. The final drama with the proposal scene was nice gooey-romantic and depicted a perfect ending for a light heated rom-com movie which should be watched once to enjoy the somewhat normalcy in the world.
I came across this movie during the 2023 OSCAR season but never got a chance to watch it. I had read the description and the full story and case beforehand and finally got a chance to watch it on a long haul flight. The spectacular depiction of women discussing what happened to them, what do they want for themselves and how to make that decision captivated my attention. They accepted their role in the society, their responsibilities towards their family, and upholding their faith revolved around their decision making process about the future for themselves and kids. The character of August was well written and portrayed within the limits of Women making a decision and not him guiding the proceedings. My recommendation is just to watch the movie for the discussion and arguments all characters make towards the eventual decision.
The first two episodes were good and felt like they were building a story but then it went on a self discovery journey which never ended. The performance from everyone was as good as possible and the show never dropped the light hearted approach which made it easy to finish. Every character in the show can have their own short season worth of content except Emily's family. Just watch it over a weekend for a few hours and feel relaxed.
Stop reading here because this could be spoiler: The show has the potential to return for a second season because Charles has signed up for another case. It honestly felt a bit like Fast and the Furious where the cop joined the gang in the end but with a twist.
